iRobot Roomba S9+ Review
The Roomba i7+ from iRobot is the world’s first robot vacuum cleaner that can clean your home and then clean itself. The latest model from the firm has four times the suction force and learns your home’s layout over time. It’s the most expensive robot vacuum we’ve reviewed so far. However, because of its strong suction, intelligent navigation, and capacity to empty itself, it is our Editors’ Choice for high-end models.
Design:
It’s slimmer and smaller, with a copper-like lid that complements the Clean Base’s highlights. When it’s time to replace your old vacuum, an app will notify you. The Clean Base may withstand up to 30 cleaning cycles of the debris before needing to be replaced. It has an LED ring that illuminates red when charging, white when cleaning, and blue when connected to the internet, and it charges, empties, and connects to Wi-Fi wirelessly.
Cleaning:
The Roomba s9+ performed better on the hardwood than any other vacuum I’ve ever tested. On carpet, the results were just marginally less spectacular. Despite coming within an inch of the carpeted corner, the D-shaped vacuum only scooped up only 30% of the flour. This is most likely because the main brush does not come into direct touch with particles
On a hardwood floor, the Roomba s9+ robot vacuum takes up approximately 85% of the flour and comes within 1.5 inches of the corner. The iRobot software is one of the best I’ve ever used, and it’s jam-packed with features that operate. The Clean Base, which doubles as a charging station and a trash can, is my favorite feature.
Setup, App, and Voice Control:
You may use an app to connect the iRobot s9+ vacuum to Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, or you can use your phone to issue voice commands. The app’s main screen includes a large Clean button for starting and stopping vacuuming, as well as a battery level indicator. To schedule the vacuum to clean on a given day and time, go to the Schedule tab. Smart Maps displays the layout of your home, which takes the computer a few laps to master.
Performance:
In testing, the Roomba s9+ had excellent navigation capabilities and required little operator intervention. It also boasts the most powerful suction we’ve seen in a robot vacuum, and it works flawlessly. It cleans in a back-and-forth pattern in open spaces for the most part, and its D shape is ideal for hard-to-reach locations. The s9+ provided 60 minutes of cleaning time for the reviewer.
Battery Life:
The Roomba S9 Plus cleans a floor in just under an hour and charges in around three hours. If it runs out of juice, it will return to its charging station and ‘intelligently recharge’ for the time it takes to finish cleaning. Rather than having to guess how much charge was left, we’d prefer if the indication displayed how much was remaining.
Pros:
- Waste bin that empties itself.
- The extremely strong suction.
- The navigation is very clever.
Cons:
- Costly.
- Noisy.
- Battery life is average.
Conclusion:
The iRobot Roomba s9+ is pricey, but it’s the greatest robot vacuum we’ve tested thanks to its clever navigation, amazingly sucking, and ability to clean itself.
