Photographers, both amateur and professional, are raving about the Fujifilm X-T4 photographic camera. It’s the first APS-C mirrorless camera with in-body image stabilization on the X-mount (IBIS).

In addition to the main feature, it offers improved handling, focusing, continuous shooting, and battery life. It has the potential to be one of the top 4K cameras for filmmaking as well as for vlogging. Our video tests are still ongoing, but we have full lab test results and sample photographs to show you.

Features and autofocus:

The Fujifilm X-T4 boasts in-body image stabilization on five axes. Certain lenses can provide up to 6.5 stops of stabilization. It can now shoot at up to 15 frames per second thanks to a redesigned quieter shutter mechanism.

The same 26.1MP back-illuminated APS-C sensor is included, which is class-leading in terms of detail and low-light performance. Without a doubt, the xt4 Fujifilm is the most capable APS-C camera on the market.

Improved image stabilization, higher shutter speeds, and a variety of sophisticated filters are among the new features. Fuji states that the tracking success rate is twice as good as the X-3 and that the Face/Eye AF has been improved as well. Using Fujifilm’s app, raw photos can be altered in-camera and wirelessly uploaded.

Unique Design and handling:

Despite the addition of a gimbaled sensor and a larger battery, the X-T4 weighs only 21.4 ounces. The materials and controls are all fantastic, with the dials having just the appropriate amount of resistance.

The first setting on the drive dial is not the expected single-shot mode for some reason. Instead, you’ll discover an excellent dynamic range there (HDR). The Fujifilm X-3.69 T4’s million-dot resolution still beats over the Sony A6600’s.

Even the full-frame A7 III’s finders, which both have 2.36 million pixels. The camera does not come with an extra battery charger and instead charges over USB-C. This may appeal to enthusiasts and professionals who frequently need to charge one battery while charging another.

Movie Optimization: The Professional-Quality Video Recording with X-T4

For slow-motion video, the X-in-body T4’s stabilization is just as good as a gimbal, and it’s just as good for static stills. It also features DIS (digital image stabilization), which can be used in conjunction with the IBIS. We didn’t notice a significant difference in results.

The new position of the stills-video lever has little impact on usability, but it does highlight the camera’s dual duty. When working with a gimbal, the new vari-angle monitor is a huge improvement over the old tilting screen.

It also includes Fujifilm’s Eterna profile, which is flat enough to provide a decent overall dynamic range without requiring extensive post-production.

fujifilm x-t4 camera Movie Mode

As a filmmaker, you want to capture the best footage possible. But achieving the smoothest footage can be a challenge, especially when adjusting controls. Fortunately, the X-T4 camera from Fujifilm offers an innovative solution:

Movie Optimized Control.

Movie Optimized Control empowers you to take charge by overriding external controls and adjusting settings using the LCD touchscreen or front/rear command dials while recording.. This helps to eliminate vibrations caused by adjusting your grip, resulting in smoother footage.

But that’s just the beginning. The X-T4 offers professional-level video recording capabilities that can take your filmmaking to the next level.

Professional-Quality Video Recording

The X-T4 allows you to capture high-quality 4K/60P 10-bit video internally with 4:2:0 color and externally via the built-in HDMI port with 4:2:2 color. This means you can achieve a high level of detail and color accuracy in your videos.

Furthermore, when recording internally at 200Mbps, the camera accommodates both H.264/MPEG-4 AVC and H.265/HEVC, allowing for a more efficient compression rate. You also have the option to select either the MP4 or the standard MOV video file format, providing greater versatility.

Ultra Highspeed Recording

The X-T4 also features a Full HD/240p super slow-motion video function, allowing you to record fast-moving action in extraordinary detail.

This is perfect for capturing sports, action sequences, or any fast-paced footage you want to slow down and examine in greater detail.

F-Log View Assist:

While recording in F-Log, there is the capability to convert the file to a video equivalent of BT.709 for display purposes. This means you can view your footage in a standard color space, making it easier to edit and color grade your videos.

Back-Up Recording and Fixed Video Crop Rate

The X-T4 offers a back-up recording function, ensuring that you always have a duplicate copy of your footage in case of unexpected errors or data loss.

Additionally, when recording in 4K with both IBIS and DIS enabled, the video crop rate is fixed at 1.29x. This makes it easier to align the frame when switching between video modes.

The xt4 features the same 26.1MP APS-C sensor as the X-3, with the same native ISO range of 160 to 12,800, video resolution, and frame rates. Eterna Bleach Bypass, a new color profile with a high-contrast, desaturated look, has been added.

There are now a total of 12 color profiles available, all of which can be applied to Raw files in-camera. In video mode, you can get Cinema 4K videos at 60 frames per second and up to 400 megabits per second, depending on the frame rate.

Impressive Sensor and Image Size

The X-T4 boasts the same sensor as the popular X-T3, which is well-known for producing outstanding image quality. Our sample images, taken with the 26.1 megapixels Raw + Fine JPEG setting, had an average image size of around 55Mb and 10Mb respectively, making for impressive image resolution and detail.

Native Sensitivity Range and Noise Reduction

The camera’s inherent sensitivity range spans from ISO 160 to ISO 12,800, with the possibility of expansion to ISO 80 to ISO 51,200. In JPEG images, the lack of visible noise up to ISO 6400 is a standout feature, which is impressive for an APS-C sensor.

Even at the extended high settings of ISO 25,600 and ISO 51,200, images are still usable.

Noise reduction in JPEG images is applied with a light touch, resulting in images that retain their detail without being overly smoothed out. In RAW files, where no noise reduction is applied, noise is more evident, but images still look relatively clean up to ISO 12,800.

This makes the X-T4 a great camera for shooting in a variety of lighting conditions, with both RAW and JPEG options.

Color Science and Film Simulation

Fujifilm is well-known for its excellent color science, and the X-T4 is no exception. The camera’s sensor uses a different color array than other brands, resulting in lovely and unique color tones.

This is especially noticeable when using Fujifilm’s film simulation modes for different color effects. We particularly enjoyed the standard Provia mode, as well as the Eterna Cinema mode.

Power and Connectivity:

The NP-W235 battery that comes with the minicam Fujifilm  X-T4 is rated for 600 photos per charge. Vertical controls and a 3.5mm headphone jack are available as an optional vertical shooting grip.

The phone app may also set the camera’s clock and use your phone’s GPS to add location info to photographs. If you don’t want to use the grip, you can use a USB-C pair of headphones or the supplied dongle to monitor audio.

Fuji xt4  brilliant Performance

With better facial and eye tracking, autofocus is faster than before. The 15fps burst mode is amazing, but for longer bursts, you’ll want to switch to JPEG-only capture — otherwise, the camera will slow down after around three seconds.

In-body stabilization of 6.5 stops sounds fantastic, but in our experiments, we didn’t come close to that figure. The image quality of the X-T4 minicam is exactly what we’ve come to expect from the business.

Depending on the lens and camera combination utilized, as well as the lighting circumstances, it gives a wide range of effects. Its dynamic range extension and shadow/highlight tone adjustments improve its ability to deal with high brightness ranges to the point where raw files may be unnecessary.

If you do shoot raw, Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom both have great Velvia, Astia, ACROS, and other Fujifilm film simulations.

The Fujifilm X-T4 is a highly advanced mirrorless camera that is specifically designed to excel in low-light photography. One of the standout features of this camera is its autofocus system, which is capable of achieving fast and accurate focus even in almost complete darkness. With an advanced phase-detection system, the X-T4 can achieve speed and accuracy down to -6EV, pushing the limits of low-light performance.

In addition to its impressive low light autofocus capabilities, the X-T4 has also received significant upgrades to its Face and Eye Detection performance. When shooting in burst mode, tracking is even more reliable than in previous models, allowing you to capture clear and sharp images no matter where your subject moves in the frame.

Perhaps most impressive of all, the X-T4’s new AF algorithm enables focusing speeds of just 0.02 seconds – the fastest autofocus among mirrorless cameras with an APS-C sensor*. This incredible speed ensures that you won’t miss a single moment, even in fast-paced situations. Moreover, the algorithm provides outstanding autofocus accuracy, delivering professional-quality images at a split-second’s notice.

Stabilized 4K:

A built-in preview LUT on the Sony X-T4 lets you capture flat video while also viewing a graded scene on the screen. It supports 4K at 16:9 UHD and 17:9 DCI aspect ratios, as well as all common frame rates up to 60 frames per second.

When recording to an SD card using HEVC, you’ll get 10-bit quality with 4:2:0 sampling. A tiny HDMI or full HDMI connector would have been preferable, especially for usage with an external recorder.

The IBIS technology in the X-T4 is excellent, but there are a few flaws that have yet to be addressed. The camera can shoot any footage, even conventional 4K, with the same crop applied, which comes in handy.

If you’re trying to frame the same shot for both standard and slow-motion capture. It doesn’t include proxy recording, so you won’t be able to make low-quality clips, which is useful for reducing CPU load when editing a film.

Conclusion:

The Fujifilm X-T4 minicam has a range of features that set it apart from other cameras in its class, including excellent picture processing, 4K video recording, a fixed image sensor, and a 26-megapixel APS-C sensor.
